PRP Therapy

At SuperiorMED, we provide Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy to help patients with chronic joint and musculoskeletal conditions explore personalized, non-surgical care. PRP therapy may be recommended for certain knee, shoulder, tendon, ligament, and other soft tissue conditions to support the body's natural healing response and improve joint function.
Through comprehensive evaluations and individualized treatment plans, our providers determine whether PRP is the most appropriate option based on your diagnosis, symptoms, and goals.
What Is PRP Therapy?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is a regenerative medicine treatment that uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to support the body's natural healing response.
Platelets naturally contain proteins and growth factors involved in normal tissue repair. By concentrating these platelets and delivering them to the targeted area, PRP therapy is designed to support healing in selected joints, tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues.
Unlike medications or steroid injections, PRP uses your body's own biological components. At SuperiorMED, we may recommend PRP therapy as part of a personalized, non-surgical care plan focused on improving mobility, supporting joint health, and restoring function.
Our Approach to PRP Therapy
PRP therapy is one of several regenerative treatment options we offer. That's why we take the time to perform a comprehensive evaluation before recommending care, ensuring your treatment plan is based on your diagnosis, functional needs, and long-term goals.
How PRP Therapy Works
PRP therapy is performed in our office and begins with a simple blood draw, similar to a routine laboratory test.
PRP Therapy as Part of a Multimodal Care Plan
At SuperiorMED, PRP therapy is rarely viewed as a standalone treatment. Depending on your diagnosis, our providers may combine PRP with other non-surgical therapies to address multiple factors contributing to your condition and support your long-term recovery.
Your personalized care plan may also include:
Each therapy serves a unique purpose within your treatment plan. By combining therapies when appropriate, we can improve movement, strengthen supporting tissues, and help you achieve better functional outcomes than relying on a single treatment alone.
Conditions We Treat Using PRP Therapy
Depending on your diagnosis, PRP therapy may be incorporated into personalized treatment plans for a variety of chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
Knee pain
Shoulder pain
Hip pain
Mild to moderate osteoarthritis
Joint degeneration
Chronic tendon conditions
Tendon injuries
Ligament injuries
Selected soft tissue injuries
Chronic musculoskeletal conditions affecting movement and function
Following your comprehensive evaluation, our providers will determine whether PRP therapy is appropriate for your condition or whether another regenerative treatment may better support your recovery.
When PRP May Not Be Recommended
PRP therapy isn't appropriate for every patient or every condition. During your evaluation, our providers carefully review your medical history, current health, medications, and diagnosis to determine whether PRP is a safe and appropriate option.
Depending on your individual circumstances, PRP therapy may not be recommended if:
- Your condition is unlikely to benefit from PRP based on your diagnosis and evaluation.
- Another regenerative therapy or non-surgical treatment is better suited to your condition and recovery goals.
- Certain medical conditions, active infections, blood disorders, or medications may affect whether PRP is an appropriate treatment.
- Your condition requires referral for another type of specialized care.
If PRP isn't the best option, we'll explain our recommendations, answer your questions, and discuss other treatment options that better align with your condition and long-term goals.
Monitoring Your Recovery & Progress
Recovery following PRP therapy varies from person to person. Factors such as your diagnosis, the tissues being treated, your overall health, and your personalized care plan all influence your progress.
Throughout your recovery, our providers monitor improvements in mobility, strength, joint function, and your ability to return to everyday activities that are important to you.
We also perform structured progress evaluations at 30 and 60 days to assess your functional improvements, answer your questions, and modify your treatment plan whenever appropriate. These reassessments help ensure your care continues to support your recovery while setting realistic expectations throughout the healing process.
